Entry from: Athens, Greece Entry Title: "Athens and the Acropolis" Entry: "Today is our last day on the island and we need to check out. Our ferry isn't until 12:30am, an overnight to Athens, so we have the day here to relax. Gabe is now finishing The Help while I write blog entries on our little patio overlooking the ocean. It's not a bad life; I can say that with complete certainty... After packing up we head to the pool and eventually to watch the sunset. Still nothing spectacular but always fun to sit up high on a bluff with all those other people facing out towards the water and looking back at the city as the sun casts its golden glow on the buildings and on the faces of expectant people. When it sinks away finally we walk back to the hotel, pick up our bags and then haul them to the bus stop. We're lucky again as it's packed and somehow we're one of the last to squeeze on the bus. Once we arrive to Fira we learn there is only one bus to port and it doesn't leave until 11:30pm. So we head to an internet café for a few short hours before rushing back to catch the bus. The ferry already has passengers on it from the last place it picked up, so although we're in the front of the line every seat, couch and floor space is filled with sleeping bodies.
